Yes adding would be highly benefitial .Thats why they may be labled as soil conditioner. Container,raised bed,garden bed or on your lawn are all good uses for pine bark fines

I have a large quantity of fir fines screened through screen with 1/16 inch openings. There must be a use for this material, but I don't know what it is? Al

Al, do you mean the fine dust that passed through the 1-16 screen?

I use the bark dust in lieu of peat moss, since the particles are similarly sized
but more durable than peat. I screen my ingredients, mix, then re-incorporate
some of the fine dust to increase moisture retention.

Any suggestions as to how much to add such as 1 cu ft of mulch to every 10?, 20?, 50? square ft of bed space?
Should it be added this fall or early next spring?

I can get pine park mulch in bulk from a farm service center, would that work?

Can you show a pic of the pine bark to decide if size is acceptable?
Square feet is a rather useless measure ,a better measure may be the depth of the raised bed.

Maybe better to add 5-6 inches deep of PGF and mix it in.

Thanks Josh, the only use I have for peat is in my seed starting mixes so will try substituting the bark fines and see how it works. This time of year I am starting perennials from seed for next years blooms. Al
