| After several weeks of struggling with yellowing cucumber leaves, I just discovered a couple of spotted cucumber beetles on my plants. Fortunately, the beetles have not yet discovered my in-ground plants (yet?) so I should manage to have a supply for a few more weeks. I'm also starting some seeds this week for a late summer crop which I will definitely be planting in a fresh container.
I'm wondering though what to do about this EarthTainer. Is there some way to sterilize the planting medium? I'm not keen about just dumping it in the yard. Can I use this container for something else, e.g. peppers? |

| You could try solarizing the mix.. Tie it closed in a trash bag and leave in the hottest sunniest area you have for a couple of days...that should kill most anything in there. Placing it on a blacktop driveway that gets a lot of sun would be good. |
