Liquid Lime to Raise Media pH?

Ernie

Has anyone tried liquid/flowable lime as a way to raise media pH? I've let my blueberry potting mix get too acidic (3.5 or so), and quite a few of my plants are showing some leaf deficiencies (and, in a few cases, stunted growth) that I suspect might be pH related. My irrigation water has low alkalinity, so it's of no help, and repotting isn't an option right now. After doing some research, I've come up with two possible options that are recommended for raising media pH in nursery/horticultural publications -- potassium bicarbonate and liquid lime. The latter is supposed to have a more lasting effect and won't require subsequent flushing to clear out excess salts, so I'm considering giving it a trial run on a plant or two. Before doing so, though, I thought I'd see if anyone else has any suggestions or experience.

Here is a link that might be useful: Flowable Lime & Potassium Bicarbonate
