You open the back door to walk out to your garden and half of NJ's finch population scatters from the hedges...

Haha...Mom used to joke that she knew the cantaloupes were ripe when the deer took a bite out of them. I don't know how many times as kids we'd beg her to pick one and she'd say "Just a couple more days..." Next morning, every one of them would have a single huge bite missing.

Similarly, when all the figs are gone overnight.
Or all the little pears and apples are pecked or bitten.

I asked DH to put little socks on them, and he planned to do it when they up and vanished. The fruits, that is.
