| Hi,
I've been having some bad results with my seedlings in the 5-1-1 mix. I did't think it was possible to over water with this mix until I over watered my poor seedlings. I watered twice a day. I've never had luck growing tomatos in my life and this year I'm going all out. I have Al's mix, and what he uses to feed his plants and am all ready off to a bad start. The seeds are recovering though. Could I get some advice on when I should start feeding, how much, etc. I'm using Dyna Gro foilage product that Al uses. Any help would be great. |

| Well, every year I start my hot peppers from seed. I start them in the Gritty Mix, then switch them over to 5-1-1 for the prime growing season. I start feeding my seedlings a mild dose of Foliage Pro once they develop their true leaves. I try to fertilize lightly with every watering so that nutrients are always available without excessive salts accumulating in the mix. How much you fertilize will depend on how robustly the plants are growing.

| Thanks for the help.. My outdoor tomatoes are already out. I wanted to do these cherries by the window and hope a month of growth is enough for some action later on. |
