Are you sure it needs to be repotted? Jade plants, if I recall correctly, LIKE being pot bound. Can you post a picture? I haven't usually repotted jade unless the trunks/stems pretty much fill the pot.

repot in a pot that is just slightly larger. Yes, both diameter and depth count. It doesn't have to be a lot bigger - if it is just a little bigger that will give the jade enough room to grow but not so much that it becomes unhappy with too much freedom.

If the plant is very large it might help to prune a bit before repotting. You can start the cuttings in sand (not in water) and get more plants that way. However it is literally decades since I've done this so the details escape me. Try posting on the Cacti and Succulents forum for more information.

EDIT: BTW - a plastic pot may not be your best bet for a jade plant. They typically do better in clay pots. However if you're using some version of gritty mix or a good pumice blend for your potting medium, a plastic pot may be ok. Those kind of mixes are typically VERY hard to water log, even on purpose.
