Are they in full sun? Did the containers get too hot?

In a small terra cotta pot, I water my Avocado every other day (90F+ heat).

D...as stated above...there are variables. But we are trying to help you, so here goes...Watering for several days in a row should not have killed this plant. More likely, the extreme heat toasted it. Young avo plants can NOT take up water fast enough in extreme heat. The root system is too small. The best thing to do would have been give it afternoon shade in this extreme heat wave. Water under the bridge....Try to get a read on the "drainability" of your potting soil. If it drains freely...water often. Your plant got stressed out...but it should come back.
