Miscanthus giganteus competing with Acer ginnala?
More Discussions
I have a 3x3' foot container, 2' high, in which I planted a young Acer ginnala and a couple of Miscanthus giganteus in July this year. I am in Canadian zone 5, zone 3 since I'm on the third floor. All my other plants (variety of species) are doing well, only my Acer is not thriving. Its leaves are wilting and it only has a couple of new growths, some of which are browning around the edges. The miscanthus at its base has become what it was supposed to become- enormous. Is it possible that the miscanthus roots are competing with my maple? Should I remove the miscanthus to help my maple? Our tempratures are already starting to drop (Montreal).
Thank you for any help!
