WInter Jasmine in Containers

Hi. I've just joined and this is my first post, so please bear with me if I sound particularly dumb.
I would like to grow winter jasmine in a trough and encourage it to climb and cover an unsightly oil tank. My reading seems to indicate that some form of support will be required in order to do this. This isn't really a problem. However other reading seems to show differences of opinion about the necessary growing conditions for the plant.

I will need to grow the jasmine in a North to North East facing position which gets only partial sunlight during winter months, although has marginally more during the spring through to autumn.

Any advice anybody may have about whether this would be a suitable growing position, and indeed whether growing in a container or trough would be appropriate would be most welcome.

Thank you in advance.
