Bring Pots inside for So Cal winter

I have about 10 pepper plants growing in pots in my back yard in Southern California. The pots are about 5 gallons. The peppers are Bhut Jolokia, Tabasco, Cayenne, Serrano, Jalapeno, Anaheim, Bulgarian Carrot, NuMex Big Jim, Bell and an Eggplant too.

My question is, should I bring them inside, now that the weather is getting cooler. Where I live, it gets to about 40 at night on the worst days. I have big picture windows that are floor to ceiling glass and look/act like greenhouse windows. The only issue I had last year was when they were inside, some got I believe it was aphids, where the leaves turned sticky, then died.

Some will probably die if left outside, as not all the plants are full grown/fully estabilshed.

If I do take them inside, how do I prevent pests/die off?
