No I think they meant you can put it in the recycling bin instead of the trash. The thing is why would you want to when you could just re-use the thing?

Well if it is plastic, it has a definite lifespan. UV will eventually break down the plastic and the pot will become brittle and useless. In that case, it is good if it is recyclable. However most plastic pots are made of PP which has always been fully recyclable.

It's some kind of composite- not fully plastic and not ceramic. Might have some sawdust or something in it. I don't know. There's similar stuff popping up in hardware stores. I got it at a crafts place that moving locations.
