It probably can benefit from a peat-bark mixture like 5-1-1 or any ratio, peat would hold more water. You could use burlap to wrap the pot, even the bush itself. it will not need light soon if not dormant already. Also it may lose leaves even if they say it doesn't. So don't worry if that happens.
I suggested other methods also so did Al, so whatever you want to do.
If dormant it will stop growing. Even if dormant, if it dries completely out it could die. Too wet too! Sounds like your soil mix is losing a lot of water. I doubt the plant is using it.

If it has stopped growing, I'm sure it has, you can repot it. Buy some peat and mix in exisiting soil and put back in the pot.
I'm watering mine about once every 2 weeks now. Staying moist at least that long.
Also if temps drop below freezing it will be dormant at that point.
If you repot you can check on roots, see if healthy or brown and rotted. i can't imagine even in pure bark it needs water daily. That is very strange. Is it a clay pot?

Thank you Drew. The bush was frozen but is not now. we are having strange weather. It has been in the 50s or low 60s for the passed 2 days. Wen it is going to snow. What i was trying to ask was do you water at all when domet? Is it dormat when the top of the soil and the roots are frozen? When the root ball was frozen there was a small area of soil around the roots that wasn't frozen so I watered. Was that correct? do I continue watering until it freezes again?

OK, that is clear, yeah you don't need to water if frozen, for sure. Maybe you should do what Al suggested in other threads and put snow on top, if it melts, you can keep an eye on it. Then add more snow when colder. it will not hurt to water when frozen, but we don't want an ice cube, just slightly moist soil. That is a really good question. I would rather have it drier when frozen than wetter.
