How many plants per container

I've never gardened before and this spring I was thinking about starting a container garden and was wondering about the amount of plants to plant per container. I have eight 5 gallon containers and plan on growing tomatoes, cucumbers, sweet peppers, okra, beans, squash, and eggplant.

In a 5 gallon container you should not plant more than one of each, tomato, eggplant, cucumber, okra, pepper and squash. But you can plant maybe half a dozen beans. Actually, a 5 gal. is on the small side for tomatoes, unless it is a small DETERMINANT or dwarf type.
