Hi everyone,

I have never grown bottle gourds before and need your expertise.

When should I start planting the seeds? Would it make any sense to wintersow them or would it be best to wait until the spring? If so, when is the appropriate time--I am in NJ.

Hi Vicki, similar planting rules to squash. If direct seeding outside wait until the soil has warmed up and nite temps remain above 50F. I suspect that for your location this means planting around May 20th.
