Hail Damage to Squash and Tomatoes

Posted by sjd181 6b (My Page) on

My garden was hit by a pretty severe hail storm and my squash plants were damaged pretty bad. Should I prune all of the damaged and wilted leaves? Also, should I cut all of the fruit off? Some of them are damaged from direct hits.

My tomatoes suffered as well, and most of the tomatoes that were growing were knocked off. Should I cut off all of the split branches?

My asparagus plants lost half of their ferny stocks. I am wondering if they will regrow. Thanks for any advice.

Sorry sdg, this side of the forum is rather sleepy. As you may have already found out most hail damaged gardens survive ok in time, unless of course it was one of those hail storms that look like it snowed. Hope your's survived ok by mid July.

edited to add :
But your squash probably didn't make it past the July borers, they're worse than hail!
