Butter nut squash vines dead

The squash is not ready yet but all the vines have died. See picture. What could of caused this? The picture is a small section of the huge vines that we had. The leaves just died...The actual vines are not dead yet. We planted them back at the end of April. I water regularly as it on the sprinkler system.
