| I recently harvested 8 butternut squash. I washed and dried them and put them in a cool pantry. Checked on them the other day and clear sticky liquid was oozing from the stems. Does anyone know what this is? |

| Did they last long for you? (he asks 4 months later ;). If the ooze was from the tip of the stem it probably was ok. If it was from the base of the stem then perhaps a borer pest? Did they "cure" in the field? sounds like it ok. When I grew and harvested butternuts I washed them in <5% bleach solution before storing. |
