WANTED: cover crop

looking for recommendations for a cover crop.
i use a garden fork to turn my beds over in the spring. i am looking for a more easily turned cover crop. presently been using wheat and clover and it is very difficult to turn.
any suggestions or experience would be appreciated. thank you.

Winter ryegrass makes a good covercrop, but it is way late to plant now...You can try it next year, though. Plant it in Setember or October, and it will stay lush all Winter, without being too hard to fork under.
