While a lot of you are stuck in your houses for the winter, tomorrow I'm going to do some things out in the garden. It's been rather mild here this/last? year. Even for Socal... Pefect weather for getting my IPM flowers/herbs going.

For those who ARE stuck for the winter, consider starting some chinense varieties of peppers. January is the perfect time to get some started under lights in your basements et al. By the time Apr/May rolls around, they'll be in perfect shape for transplant.

Just to rub it in a bit to you northerners, here's my forecast.

Happy New Year to you, too! We're preparing to get buried tonight and I absolutely HAVE to be at work early in the morning. Ick. But... I started some lettuce seed this past weekend and some of it is already up, so DH is going to set a shelf up with some lights for the container (he didn't believe me that they would really sprout.) Some fresh lettuce will be so welcome in March!

Happy New year, and yes, you are rubbing it in :) -- our high Tuesday is supposed to be -2, with interesting wind chills (weatherman says just stay inside!)

Am wondering about the wisdom of having left savoy cabbages in the ground under cover . . .

There are always alfalfa and sunflower sprouts in the kitchen!

Happy New Year! We have a little snow, but that's ok. It is time for me to look over the seeds and see what needs ordering. A pleasant day by the woodstove. Cheers!
