I have grown ridge gourd plants from seeds in pots over a month. Now
male flowers started blooming but found on the floor of the pot immediately after blooming. This happened twice to my first two flowers. Is it because of tenderness or it happens to the first bloomings or some other reason. Today i have noticed female flower bud in good shape but worried cos fear of seeing this flower also might land to the ground. please help me how to take care of these plants as i'm new in this field.

Regards
Ameen

RE: Care for growing ridge gourd plant.

You will find more information searching for "luffa", its common English name.

It's normal for the first blossoms to be male, and for them to drop off quickly. They are there to get the pollinators in the habit of coming to the plant.

Don't expect every flower to become a gourd. After the female flowers appear, many will fall off unpollinated.

Make sure the pollinating insects (bees) can reach the plant and keep the plants properly watered. Move them outside, or to larger pots, if they need more room.
