Tomatoes will do good here but in the middle of the summer they will slow down or stop producing and then start producing again after it starts cooling back off. You can either pull them in the middle of summer and replant for the fall or keep them alive and let them produce again in the fall. we had some we planted were we had a old chicken coop and we had plants about 8' tall that were solid red until the heat got too much for them in the middle of summer.

Okra may be a candidate. It is tall and the flowers are pretty but honestly, in the hottest part of the summer, most plants will be stressed in those conditions.

Tomatoes would work well. Suggest you set plants at the beginning of March to get ahead of our hot weather (i.e. concur with the heat stress comments above). Peppers sweet/hot would also work well, as would eggplant.

Some of the more heat tolerant vegetables (IMO) for our gulf coast area are: okra, eggplant, melons, Chinese long beans (cowpeas), jalapenos, sweet potatoes (although the vining crops would likely NOT be a good option as they do sprawl a bit).

Try Long squash

I had a great pepper that performed super well. It's called Lady Belle. It had all kinds of bug attacks and tons or rain. It never stopped producing. The only bad thing it got hot when it was baked as stuffed peppers. It got so heavy with peppers I had to stake it.
