Bagging Okra for seed saving

deanriowa

I want to plant 4 types of Okra next season and I would like to save seeds from three of the types. I have read that okra needs 500' to 1 mile of isolation for saving pure seed. I do not have that distance in my garden for isolation.

I have decided I will attempt to bag the okra flowers before they open. How to I pollinate the flowers that have been bagged or are they self pollinating?

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

thanks,

Dean
