I bought seeds last year from I believe amazon. I started them indoors in March and transplated them outdoors about the third week of May. They grew fast and long but never changed from green to yellow. Jalapenos, Thai, Peppachinos all did well. The banana peppers started to rot in September and the skin on the other plants was tough and leathery. Do I need to buy a certain variety for Minnesota or is this some issue with either my garden or last years climate. We had a long wet spring but also had a lot of 90 plus days with high humidity as well. I did not over water at least I dont think I did. Tomatoes, Potatoes, onions and herbs all did well. This was my first year attempt with the banana and the Peppachino.

Banana peppers start out yellow and turn red when ripe. Whatever you grew grew was not a banana type. The generic "Banana" is availalable as either a sweet or hot variety. There are several hybrid versions Sweet Spot, Banana Bounty, Pageant, Bananarama. Sounds like a seed source problem.

Farmerdill knows this business. You can buy Banana pepper seeds at most big box store. I just bought a SWEET variety packet few days ago . Cost -$1.10. Distributed by Ed Hume seed company.
