Anyone have any success with growing pumpkins in limited spaces? I saw this idea on youtube for growing watermelons in small spaces: http://youtu.be/l002A9Uoqp8. Anyone tried something similar to this with pumpkins or have any other ideas that may help me? Thank you!

Victory seeds has a Russian variety that translates to Bushy Orange that might be worth considering. And one thing about pumpkins is that they will run among other plants, between rows, around the edge of the garden, etc. Only a small portion of their growing space needs to be a fertile bed.

Here is a link that might be useful: Bushy Orange pumpkin

The smaller Sugar Pie pumpkins can be grown on a(very)sturdy trellis with the fruit tied up in slings of netting or other material. Some people use produce bags of netting, I have used nylon tulle. HTH

Like others have said you can trellis the vines and of course prune them to keep them controlled.

Hi,
Just wondering what sort of luck others have had with this as well. Would like to plant some edible pumpkins (not Halloween ones). Not sure of the variety that's best, or time of year to plant. Also, we grow organically. Was thinking of using a 15x15 area in a raised bed for the pumpkin; have the rest of the plot (equal size) that I was going to put an asparagus bed in. Thanks!
