I'm in zone 8a, when should I plant my peas so I miss the hot weather? Can I start them inside now to get a jump on the heat?

I'm able to start in about two weeks outside, but it's an entirely different climate here.

when is your frost date. zone does not help determine planting dates zone only tells you how cold it will get in winter.

You should probably get a first sowing in now. Don't know what "West Central Texas" is ... but if you're west of IH-35 and south of Waco/Temple/Belton I'd sow now and every two weeks for the next few weeks. Peas can handle a light frost, which you'll still get and if you get a deep freeze, you'll still have seed left to keep sowing. I've never transplanted peas, I've only direct sowed.

Think I need to change my West Central Texas to West TX since our move...only moved 40 miles but.... I'm about 4 hrs west of I-35 and about an hour or so north of I-10.
