How to Produce Enough Heat For Tomatoes?

How are you guys doing?? well as you can probably tell from my name I'm Novice, and I usually just buy some already sprouted plants to plant but I've seen that buying seeds is more cheap and efficient, but Im worried that they won't germinate cause of heat problems, the soil is cold to the feel so I'm presuming that it's moist... ( I'm in the part of Florida that has a Low Annual temperature of 50* )

Tomatoes have always germinated well for me. As you said, planting tomato seeds are cheaper. Have you planted them? Last year, I planted them in February, and they sprouted just as well. But I found them to germinate faster when the weather is warmer, such as March and April.

The ones planted in February don't grow much during the colder weather, so the ones planted at the later time catch up in size and fruits nearly at the same time.

Unlike last year, I'm still waiting to plant my black plum tomatoes, possibly two more weeks.

The Growing Tomatoes forum has a great FAQ with all the details on how to grow them from seed. I linked it below.

You'll also find detailed how-to FAQs over on the Growing from Seed forum here. You'll find most recommend the use of a seed germination heat mat or alternative heat source for the best and fastest germination.

Tomatoes germinate pretty easily and grow pretty fast too. I sprinkled a handful of roma seeds in a hanging planter and it is full of little green heads popping through the dirt...Just love to see that happening...
