I have not grown Persian Cucumber and can't help you there. It may be that your wife likes them because they do not have tough skins and need to be peeled. If so, she would also like the Beit Alpha varieties.

Yes, Persian is a marketing name for Beit Alpha type cucumbers, a popular green house type in Europe . A Google search for beit alpha cucumber seeds will reveal lots of sources in the US. Most are hybrids, but Baker Creek has an open pollinated one. Johnny's has a wide selection of hybrid varieties.

I just bought a Persian Cucumber plant at Armstrong Garden Center. If you have one near you, that's where you can find the plants for your garden.

You will be happy with any of the Johnny's linked above. I also adore the Persians in the market all winter. I have not grown them all but success with a few on that list...also like the lemon cukes and have been growing them for years. Trying a few more this year and hoping for an extended season so i don't get them all at one time.
