Indoor Salad Harvest

I got the itch for getting started early this year, so I decided to grow some greens under the lights.

Spinach, Several types of Lettuce, Mizuna, Tatsoi, Cilantro, Basil, a few onion tips and Arugula. It basically two and a half standard trays of 9 oz plastic cups and I just harvest the outer leaves as they start spreading out. Tastiest greens I have grown.

Yum! I started extra seeds for a summer indoor harvest of lettuce and spinach. Awesome idea!

Mandolls,
What type of light setup do you have? What kind of bulbs are you using.
Thanks

I did that for a bit, but then I looked at my electric power bill per pound of greens grown, and it was kind of ooutrageous.

HartfordI just use $10.00 T8 shoplights, with whatever bulbs are cheapest.

Josko - I havent tried to figure the electric cost, but I have the lights on for starting many other seedlings. Honestly my heating bills are so high this time of year, that the amount of electricity a few fluorescent bulbs use isnt going to be noticeable.

And the fresh greens make me happy.
