Many possible causes - air temps, light, nutrients, watering, - but with young plants and first/early blooms it is fairly common. Just be patient.

You have to do that early in the morning before the bees get to work. They can carry off huge amounts of pollen. I've seen them so heavily laden that they have dificulty flying.

Probably there are plenty of pollens but one cannot always detect them visually. Some plants like lillies have tons of pollen, many don't have that much.

I have the same problem at the moment. Heaps of male and female flowers, but no pollen in any of the male flowers to pollinate with. Bees arent stealing it as theyre netted. First year this has ever happened to me, very strange.

Could the netting be preventing the bees from pollinating the flowers? I've never had to net my cukes, nothing to attack them here other than cuke beetles.

I usually hand pollinate my cukes, but alas, no pollen this year. i have to net them where i live because possums and birds will eat the entire plants otherwise.
