A wet mixture like that, sandwiched between plastic cups, would take forever to dry. Paper, including molded pulp containers such as egg cartons, is made by spreading the wet pulp on screens. Water is then drained or squeezed from the screen and the paper is removed and dried, usually by pressing with heat.

I take newspaper, tear lengthwise in 5" wide strips, wrap the strips around a vitamin bottle or tomato past can (leave one edge even w/ the top of the can, let the rest hang over). Close up the bottom by folding and smushing. They seem to stay together well enough to fill w/ seed starter mix, as long as you pack a tray w/ them so they stand up once full. I guess you could water w/ compost tea...

Hi, I don't know where you live, but if you are in a tropical area like me (Costa Rica), you could try what I am about to try: Cow dung and banana sap as binder. Have you ever cut a plantain from the plant? It starts oozing this sticky sap that won't even go away with soap. We also have rubber trees somewhere in the property. And when our coconut palms start producing, I'll use coconut husk fibers. In fact, they already make pots out of pure coconut fiber (coir), and they stay together, so cow dung and coir MUST make a great pot. I'll try with pure sun-dried manure moulded around a pot first. Then I'll try manure sandwich beween two pots, pressed and then sun-dried, and then I'll try adding plantain sap to see which is better.

Any one succeed in this yet? I'd love to make Black Kow pots.

The first question one should ask is whyever would one even want to do this??? A "fun" "cool hobby"? Geez. Dig the planting hole, drop a scoop in, and be done with it.

LOL Maybe not fun. But I sell plants. I'm trying to eliminate more single-use plastic waste from my life. It's a good project for those of us who are dedicated earth weirdos! Plus, I'm a cheapskate and don't want to buy pots!
