Update on motion sensor sprinkler to keep deer out !

I bought a motion sensor sprinkler to keep deer out of the garden late last year. Too late to save my garden.

It is working very well so far. Last year the deer ate my fresh sprouting veggies as soon as they came up. Everything is up and growing very good. Not a single deer track or anything nibbled!

I have one of those, the only problem I had was positioning, I had to move it away from the garden once the plants got big enough to trigger it.
It was also good for giggles when visitors came too close. I've had mine for 3 seasons and I love it.

I have them too. I use three of them on my vegetable garden all summer. It takes about two weeks to remember to turn the water off when I want to work in there. :)

I move them to guard my pansies all winter. I have not had a single nibble for three years now. They are great, as long as you keep the batteries changed. I wish they had a low battery indicator.

Still, I love them. I really don't want a fence and they definitely do the trick.

Sounds great and so glad to hear that they actually work! Do you think they would work on squirrels too?

I just ordered one from amazon, since the reviews have been positive. Lots of deer in my area. Last year we had a doe and twin fawns living in the backyard of a few houses down from my corner. On that street, the gardens were regularly chomped. I actually got to see the doe nursing her fawns in my backyard. It was way cool, however, I am not growing plants for the deer.
    Hope the scarecrow works.

I also ordered the motion sensor sprinkler from Amazon to get rid of all the deers coming into close proximity to my house and making a complete mess. This product has worked perfectly and I can say I am no longer cleaning deer mess. I absolutely love this product. For those interested in buying it through amazon here is the link:

Well, I bought one for DH for Father's Day but we were not having deer incursions until just recently. It seems that as the nights cool, the battery voltage is getting too low and it no longer works although we have not tried it with regular batteries, just rechargeables. I do not know if that makes a difference. Of course, I still have to figure something out for the winter when the water will likely freeze in the hose.

I removed mine 2 weeks ago so that I could plow and plant my fall garden. The next day the deer tracks were everywhere!

I put them back and no more deer tracks!

Tish, I use regular batteries in mine and they last about 1 month. But I have deer and other animals triggering them often. If I let the batteries die accidentally, the deer will raid my garden the first night, sometimes during the day!

I have started changing them every 30 days just to be sure. I get them cheap from Battery Specialists, my company has an account with them and they give me the same 25% discount on cash sales. I also save the possible good ones for my nonessential gadgets.

Do you think this would work on groundhogs??

I doubt it would work with groundhogs, I think that they would be too small? Birds can walk around under them without setting them off. But if they fly by it they will set it off.
