| I have an area right in front of our deck, which used to be a sidewalk..........I have put new soil there..........but was wondering what would be the best veggies to plant there? How deep does it need to be ? I was hoping to grow potatoes there? Advice? |

| You can grow potatoes in soil 6 inches to 12 inches deep or more. If you have at least 3 inches of soild lay your seed potatoes on top of it then cover with 3 inches of soil. As the plant grows out of the soil; add soil, up to about 12-14 inches. |

| That sounds like a good spot for herbs that you could access easily from your deck. Otherwise, the suggestions from charlieboring are great! |

| What is the drainage like? Does the cement slab cause the new soil you put in to puddle up during heavy rain? |
