Rockwool

Greetings,

This is my first post and I just had a few questions!

I'm a beginner to gardening and I live in Michigan. I have decided that I want to grow some vegetables this spring/summer.

I have chosen kale, broccoli, spinach, carrots, and green beans.

I went to a hydroponics store because I planned on starting the process by germinating and growing some seeds inside before transferring them outside.

I was persuaded to buy some rockwool cubes with holes on the top (5 total) and plan on buying the seeds shortly. I guess my question is, what else do I need besides seeds and the cubes? And how difficult will it be to grow these vegetables inside till they sprout a few inches? Can I just soak the rockwool and put the seeds in, put them in some sun and keep them watered and wait?

Do I need a special tray to put them in? Do I need soil, and or other fertilizers and/or nutrients?

I know these are a lot of questions, I just can't seem to find the answers directly online. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
