You can put your basil in the partly shaded bed. More chard?

We got wintry mix and an inch of new snow today with a high of 32 degrees. The soil is still frozen. The only stuff I've planted so far is in my high tunnels. I've got 300 sq ft of chard, 500 sq ft of beets, 200 sq ft of kale, 200 sq ft of spinach, 1000 sq ft of salad turnips, and 200 sq ft each of dill, cilantro, carrots and onions.

I'm waiting for spring to arrive so I can seed peas, more beets, more kale, celery and more onions outside.

Oh my! Zone 2???? I find it amazing to see what you are able to grow in zone 2! LOL Good for you! Nancy

nancyjane, Perhaps you could save one bed for winter planting. Cover crops are nice for beds not in use.

I planted the first planting of sweet corn [of 7] a couple days ago. Also we planted part of the potatoes, set out the rest of the early broccoli, set out the early butterhead lettuce and spinach, and sowed beets and carrots. The ground is working up nicely.
