Hi all- I wanted to try growing sweet potatoes this year. I know slips can be purchased on line through Johnny Seeds, Southern Exposure, etc., but my travel schedule makes it difficult to order. I can't be confident I'd be in town when they arrive ,and the last thing I want is for the package to be sitting on my porch for a few days! Does anyone know of a local retailer in the DC/MD/VA area?? Thanks so much in advance.

The only place I think I have seen them is at my local feed store, never saw them while living in the burbs. If you are in a more rural area maybe that is a direction to explore?

Bonnie Plants sells started Sweet Potato 'Beauregard' plants, they have them at Lowe's in Ohio, for example. Maybe not the best source, but an easy and cheap source.
