zucchini pollination

I have three zucchini plants, when there are female and male flowers open, since there are not many bees around, i have to do a hand pollination in the morning and it worked well, zucchini grew to a foot long. if i don't do it, the zucchini stays the same size or rot. But there are days where 4 or 5 female flowers open and no male, the next day there's only male flower. My question is, If i use the new male flower to pollinate the female flowers from the day before by ripping the female flower petals off, would it still work? I noticed the female flower part turned to darker yellow and bit dry, would there be a chance for the the zucchini to grow bigger?
