| Hi,
I've done so much googling, but I can't find anything that looks like this beetle I saw on the outside of my raised bed this morning. I'm trying to figure out whether he's harmless, or whether he's a sign of big trouble to come. If anyone know what it is and could help me out, I would really appreciate it! Thanks!! | That's the pupae of a cicada. See that split on its back? It's trying to rupture the pupal case and get the heck outta there. It will emerge as an adult cicada. |

| My kids have grossed out a lot of their friends by taking these (once they're empty) to school for show and tell. |

| hahaha thanks so much! Maybe if I hadn't been too scared to touch it I would have figured out it was a shell and not an actual bug :-) |
