Pepper plants wilted?

I have been hardening off these two serrano pepper plants which I grew from seeds indoors for about the last week and a half. It was finally warm enough where I could leave them out over night which I did for 2 nights. When I came home from work yesterday they seemed to be really wilted and some of the leaves have kind of a weird texture-almost a little crispy. Yesturday was a bit cooler but not as intense sun as previous days so I don't think it's sun scald. I decided to bring them inside last night and maybe 1 or 2 leaves perked up but otherwise it's mostly the same. I have been fertilizing with fox farm about once a week for maybe 6 weeks now. It's been in the 50's at night, is that still too cold for them at night? Any other ideas what it could be?

Root bound, overwatering, or you aren't GRADUALLY hardening off. If they're root bound, it could be a case of UNDERwatering since there's very little room for the soil to hold onto water.

If they're NOT root bound, how often have you been watering?

My peppers only wilted like that from being thirsty. Towards the end of hardening they dried out a lot faster. Being outdoors makes the soil in the pot dry out faster than if they were kept inside.

I thing those plants are too big for those solo cups and have become root bound. Therefore, cannot hold enough water for long enough time an wilt because of it.

So I potted them up and they were not root bound but they also don't seem to be sucking up much water....I wasn't exactly watering them on a schedule. I check them everyday and if the soil was dry about an inch down or the pot was super light I would water. I want to say I usually end up watering every 3-4 days. They are outside full time now since I potted them up and I did move them to a different location where it's not quite as sunny. Some of the leaves that were already damaged have turned brown and fallen off but some of the leaves seem ok. Overall besides some bad spots, the plant doesn't look like it's dying so I'm not sure what to do. I will post updated pictures tonight.
