| I am trying various veg in containers on my deck this year such as tomatoes, peppers, salad leaves, garlic etc. I was wondering if I could use 100% cotton (coloured) clothing which we no longer use, cut into strips to mulch these plants? I understand that the purpose of mulch is to keep the soil cooler and help to retain water - do you think this would work (if look a bit strange!) I am using liquid compost on these plants as well as water. Thanks in advance. |

| Other than appearance I don't know why it wouldn't work. Some use shredded newspaper or straw or hay or shredded leaves works too. Dave |
