Eating potatoes that may have come from a plant with wilt

Hey there!
My potato plants died unexpectedly, before they flowered. It was either due to a lack of consistent watering (they were in burlap sacks and lost water quickly) or possibly fusalarium wilt (though I can't indentify that's the cause of their death for sure, but the seed potatoes were mushy as if it were a bacterial affliction [though the tubers themselves were not]). The plants produced a few spuds, which I harvested after the plants had died back. These spuds have been in the ground for a couple weeks, and most of their skins are cracked. I'm not sure if this is due to the inconsistent watering, or due to a possible infection or disease that killed them.
Is it ok to eat these potatoes produced by these plants? I definitely will not save them for seed potatoes, but would like to eat them if it's not dangerous! Thanks guys!

Purple Majesty. Haha, I should have mentioned they are PURPLE potatoes, and are not discolored.

Assuming you are going to peel and cook them first, I wouldn't hesitate to eat them.

For the record, the seed potato always gets mushy, it is not a sign of any affliction. I too would peel, cook and eat it without hesitation.

Thanks guys! I am leaning towards thinking these plants just had inconsistent watering and they petered out from it! I'll know for next year!
