I have broccoli plants in a stock tank this year. Their heads aren't that big, but the individual stalks are starting to separate. Does that mean it's time to eat them? Thanks.

Yep. A little past it's prime but still good.. Harvest that main head so side shoots develop. The more separation, the woodier the stalk will be. I let my knife in the kitchen tell me --- if gravity from a simple chop drop of the knife doesn't go easily through the stalk, I inch my way up the stalk until it does. Kevin

Agree. Usually it begins to get a slight yellow cast before the stalks begin to separate and that is when to harvest. So get it now. Dave

Thanks Dave and Kevin! I'm going to grab and knife and go out now! :)
