my first time growing eggplant, this is about 5 weeks in from seedling transplant. its a black beauty. no pods of fruit yet, but big leaves and seems healthy. how long for eggplants to start setting in? just curious, never tried growing these before. also have an ichiban eggplant plant also growing nice leaves as well.

Eggplant like hot weather, ours alway s kick in when the temps stay above 90.

It's a beautiful plant, nearly perfect I'd say. Containers have a dwarfing effect, which will soon set in. If you want the plant to continue to grow, it will need a larger pot. If you decide to keep it as it is (lovely), the urn will become more prone to toppling as the plant bulks up, and it will need staking, too. Guess I'm saying you need to plan for the future, maybe use a large black plastic nursery liner that can be slipped into a more decorative planter.

thanks guys. sadly dont really have the space for another even bigger planter on my patio, (got a lot of other veggies growing). if it doesnt grow to its full potential i guess it may have to do. the planter pot is a little bigger then pic may make it seem, but i guess we will see what happens. i will def put a stake or two in, i see what u mean, especially if fruit will set in soon and start to take off, will need some support like i said i never grew eggplant before so hopefully i get at least 1 or 2 to make some eggplant parm later this summer! lol Mike
