Pollenating Sweet Corn By Hand

I was wondering about pollinating sweet corn by hand. We have a small raised bed with corn planted in tight rows. Plants are about 8" apart and rows about18" apart.

So far everything has done well. This morning, after a very nice shower last night, I spotted the first silks sprouting from the ear chutes.

The foliage is fairly dense and I am concerned about pollination. I've heard of "shaking" the stalks for pollination. Has anyone ever tried gently stroking the tassels with a soft brush then stroking the silk? Might this work?

Any other ideas for hand-pollination would be appreciated.

TIA for all responses
