This cheap stuff store has vegetable, herbs, flower seeds 75% off,(common seeds). Most of their products are made in china, but the seed packages have USA origin from a company in Boulder,Co.I think the name was Lake Valley or something like that,So I was tempted( because of the price) to buy some but first I wanna to check if anybody here has grown this kind of seeds, how do they compare to other seeds...I tought about buying a bunch to offer for FREE,for newbies,etc...but I don't want to be inferior quality or something bad,the cost will be about 30-50 cents per package...

This question comes up frequently over on the Growing from Seed forum and the Wintersown forum here. Most report results are just fine, good even. Limited variety selection but nothing wrong with the seeds. Sold under several different brand names at the various dollar-store type chains.

I've found the seeds are just as reliable. The drawbacks are the limited variety and quantity of seeds, but if you just need a few common seeds, it's usually a good buy.

At that cost I think I would definitely try it. I have used Lake Valley before as I consider Colorado semi-local and I have had no problems. I would probably check the packing date on them to see what year they were packed for and would take that into consideration for germination rates but I would still buy them. I like cheap thrills. Or more accurately, cheap gives me a thrill. If it does not work, then I am not to heavily disappointed.

Yes, Lake Valley seeds are fine in terms of quality, good germination, decent seed count for the price. The reason they are cheaper is because this company doesn't offer the newest and latest varieties from the big agribiz outfits like Seminis , Takii, Goldsmith, et al. Lake Valley sticks mostly with older varieties, many open pollinated, which tend to be cheaper seeds for them to buy and therefore they can sell at lower retail prices.

Itzy
I have planted dozens of packets of (organic)Lake Valley seeds this year and so far am quite pleased with quantities and germination. They were priced at $2.49 a packet so I think you are getting a bargain. I have only eaten radishes and beets so far and they were just fine.

I first discovered Lake Valley seeds in 2011. They handle a good variety of seeds that are grown and packed in Italy. I purchased Giant Parsley in a packet that must have thousands of seeds and also purchased seeds for Capers - which are not found locally anywhere in Central Virginia. The parsley seeds had excellent germination and the parsley plants are the largest I have ever grown with a HUGE root system. I will sow the Caper seeds in fall to leave in fridge over winter. I can only say that I am happy this local "discount" store has started carrying Lake Valley Seeds.

I say if the price is right - go for it!
