I've gotten one normal cucumber from my vines and all the rest look like this. Some are on vines that climbed a trellis and others are on the ground.

Looks like a long variety, maybe Suyo long.

It was close to the ground, stuck itself in the soil (as evidenced by the dirt on the blossom end), and couldn't grow any longer without bending. At least that's my theory. Maybe they are supposed to be bent. I wouldn't know as I stick with pickling cukes. :) Rodney

No, this one wasn't on the ground. It was hanging on the trellis. I think the dirt was splashed up from the rain we had yesterday. I didn't know there was a long variety, farmerdill, but that could be it. The seed package was for Sumter cucumbers.

Sumter are a pickler about 6" long when mature. Kevin

Then I stand corrected. Rodney
|
burpless? My father grew burpless cukes years ago that looked like that.

Definitely one of the long varieties. A rogue seed. you will probably never determine the variety. Unless hanging completely free most long varieties will curve. I have had China long curl up like a snake. The Japanese burpless types will also curl but not as much.
Here is a link that might be useful: China long

I think that package must have been mislabeled then because at least 2 plants have this kind of cuke. Burpless is good too if that's what they are. I cut that one right after posting and it is very meaty with few seeds. I like that. But I did plant 6 vines so I could have enough to pickle some gerkins. Bummer.

Could it possibly be a pollination issue?
|
Pollination? I don't know. I've got 6 vines in a row, all seeds from the same package. I don't know what they would pollinate with to make this cuke. Next to them are tomatoes, then okra, green beans, peppers, and blackeye peas.

That is very normal, to me. A lots of Asian varieties grow like that (crooked) if not hanging down. I bet it tastes good.
