I don't think it's anything to worry about. In fact, I've read that they are indicative of good soil. Just don't eat them! (You probably already know that, but I feel compelled to say it anyway.)

There's probably no point in pulling them, since you're only pulling the top. Most of the organism is under the soil...I think. I'm not an expert. :-)

They are toadstools, a form of fungus, and normally considered beneficial in soil and considered a sign of good organic content in your soil. They pose no threat at all to your plants and usually only develop to an obvious point when the ground is excessively wet. Once the soil dries out a bit they disappear back into the soil.

If they really bother you then just pull them out.

PS: in the future it would be a BIG help if you would include your location/garden zone in your posts as others do. it provides us with important clues to your weather, planting times, crop development, type of soil, etc. There is a box provided for that info with every post.

Thanks for info Anne and Dave, forgot to mention I grew the potatoes in multi purpose compost that I bought so maby it was mushroom compost of some sort. Also we had bit of rain last week so that would explain a lot then. New to this site and gardening in general, iam from Scotland. Will add location in future posts.

I have the same. Good to know its OK. I'm in zone 7a. Is this the same. I can't tell if their flowers or mushrooms.
