Just felt like posting a picture of garden loveliness turned into delicious food. Anyone else feel like sharing? This has red Rosie romaine, Arugula, strawberries, broccoli and tarragon all just picked, plus some home grown garlic powder and tarragon vinegar in the dressing. Yum!

My lettuce has long ago bolted!
I think I'll go down to Baker seed and see if they have any heat tolerant seed! Any suggestions? Nancy

switch to chard, or purslane, or malabar spinach!

Hmm, I can't see my photo, which is odd, I've posted them before. I don't really hve a suggestion for heat tolerant lettuces, I just roll with the seasons now and eat a glut of lettuce this time of year then go without until it cools off again. Mulch and some shade cloth can probably take me a bit further into summer, I guess.

We've just been having our first garden salads as well! Red freckled romaine, kale, arugula, snow peas and still getting the occasional few asparagus to chop up and add. Good stuff!. We've been living off strawberries as well. They have a great flavor but are a bit sour if not picked when just about to be too late. How about yours? Is there anything I could have added to my soil to help this?

I've also just planted some leaf lettuce in a shady area of the lawn in hopes of keeping it going longer. When the lettuce was dissapointing last year we switched to red Russian kale and it was delicious!

I thought it was just me that couldn't see the photo so I didn't say anything. From the description of the salad it sounds delicious. :)
