I've read so many insecticide recipes online, my head is spinning. So this is what I have: Dr bonners castille peppermint soap What can I do with these two and do I need to add anything else. Stupid aphids are attacking my pepper plants and they are about a foot long.

Blasts of water every 3 days at dusk, diligently, for a couple weeks will take care of most infestations. If not, either of those you mentioned will work, also. WIth neem, instructions are on the bottle, but you probably still want to up the applications to 2/week. Same thing with the soap -- a 1-2% soap to water solution is what you want. The trick is diligence -- because of their rapid rate of reproduction, every few days is mandatory until you bring populations down to manageable numbers. Kevin

Agree that you don't really need either when aphids can be controlled with plain water or just rubbed off with your fingers. And with the plain water you don't have to worry about killing any beneficial insects like with the other products or doing any damage to your plants as can happen when using them. Also keep in mind that aphids are drawn to excess nitrogen in plants so go easy with the fertilizers - which should be easy as peppers aren't big N users anyway. Dave

Yes, I second Woohooman. Blast the aphids off your plants, high enough pressure to get them off without ruining your plants, of course. I would only add to spray with the neem oil solution after the plants have dried from the water blast. Neem helps, but it's more a preventable measure. I don't think it kills aphids once you have them. Do both, repeating as necessary and your peppers should be fine.

Thank you! I gave it a good blast two days ago and then yesterday it was raining all day so I didn't bother. But I will blast again, thank you!

Aphids are born pregnant. You have to blast them twice per day for a few days. Blasting with the waterhose tears their lips off. Blast them religiously 5-10 days to truly rid yourself of them,
