| Is it possible to plant potatoes now. I am in Nor Calif. and would like to try.

| Frequent question that has come several times the past couple of weeks. Linked one long discussion about it below but the search will pull up others if you want to read them too. Simple answer is no, potatoes are spring plants. It is too hot right now and daylight hours are beginning to wane. You should be able to plant them as a fall crop in your zone however once the soil temps fall off some. Since you are in NO CA - how far north? - I have no idea what your soil temps are right now so that's what you'll need to determine first. Dave |

| I'm in the same boat as you, Purnima-- needing to plant potatoes now because travel and floods prevented me from planting in the spring. Thanks for the info, Dave! Will be interesting to see what kind of crop I get. Might be eating a lot of rice and pasta this year :) |
