The herb is dying of thirst. It looks like it was in a fiber pot and was planted pot & all into the larger pot. The problem is that water is being lost by moving up to the rim of the fiber pot, then evaporating.

Yes, I know they say you can plant pot & all.

But what they don't tell you is that the pot must be saturated, the rim torn off, then the entire thing set below the surface of the potting mix or soil.

Which reminds me -- Did you fill the pot w/ garden soil? If so, that's another problem. Must use potting mix in containers.

Are you sure that's mulberry? If it is, may want to post some pics from different angles. Doesn't look anything like mine. I know there are different cultivars of course.

I planted mine 7 years ago and put it in the yard 3 years ago. However, the picture makes it appear there are suckers or water sprouts. If that's the case, I wouldn't plant it at all - indications of health problems. Would need to see all sides of it.

The herb is Basil. There are no mulberries in the photo.

good ID florauk the mulberries were in the link i posted. They arent doing too good. but the herbs are doing 80 percent better since I watered it more. Jean was right it was dying of thirst.
